About Me (Woefully Incomplete)

Tom, professional historian, erstwhile poet, New Orleans-bred, book-, music-, chess-, wine-, dog- and baseball-lover. He of the jaundiced eye. My opinion of what passes for sense, taste, culture, and leadership in the dying American empire is decidedly skeptical most of the time. I strive to maintain a sense of humor about it, and on a good day I tolerate it. I have 3 kids, 2 grandkids, a PhD in American history, & frustrations. I'm old enough to be your father, grandfather, or aging boomer companion. This blog is therapy for wherever my mind happens to be at the moment. Who knows what you'll find here?
