It May Mean Nothing at All

Draw your own conclusions about this. A study by a couple of UCLA professors into "subtle socioeconomic responses to detailed information about power consumption" indicates that conservatives don't really have much taste for conservation. They tend to doubt global warming, too. I'm not surprised. Are you?

We make it sound as if someone has just laid down his volume of the writings of Russell Kirk and decided to leave the house lights burning all night - just for the heck of it.

No. That's is not a Conservative of the present day.
Political Beliefs are attitudes and posturings; they are nothing as difficult as reading and understanding intelligent authors; there is nothing of substance.

Deep and complex beliefs would often lead to soul-searching contradictions; not so postures and attitudes.

Conservatism of the present is Belief defined by Attitude, not an Attitude defined by Belief.

So I take it you don't believe it, this study. Nonetheless, my very subjective experience is that the right-leaning folk I know tend to believe that environmental concerns and especially global warming are somehow anti-business, liberal plots. Are am I misunderstanding you?
