The Horror . . .

Courtesy The Rude Pundit*
A picture that speaks a thousand words. That's Susan Sundell from New Hampshire discovering last week that everything she'd seen on the news is real (and probably worse). All of the waters from Pensacola to the Florida state line are now under a health advisory.

Wow. Powerful...and lasting. Made me think of a quote -

"You can look at a picture for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all of your life."
- Joan Miró

So many of these scenes from the Gulf coast region fall under the everlasting category. Honestly, they have replaced all of the ones I'd had left inside my head from Katrina. They've started to rank much higher on the epic tragedy scale, for me. Not to the extent as scenes from 9-11-01, Oklahoma City or any of the present &/or past wars, but definitely along the same categorical lines for meeting similar criteria in order to be classified under that section. Again, this is all for me & from my standpoint, at least...

I'd also add that if it's not a picture that speaks a thousand words, then it's definitely a picture capable of leaving one completely speechless...

Love the Miro quote. This lady in the picture could well be a portrait of what I feel about this whole thing. I'm from south Louisiana, was brought up in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. It's getting where I can hardly stand to see pictures of the continuing devastation.

BTW, I listened to your audio clip on your "Just a Passerby" profile. Very cool. Who is it?
